Selection Committee
The Selection Committee for the HOPE Award is comprised of a representative from the MITSS Community Outreach Committee; a member of the MITSS Board of Directors; a member with a patient's perspective; a representative from the sponsoring organization (RL Solutions); and, a representative (or individual) from the 2010 HOPE Award winner(s).
Ilene Corina
Selected as one of Modern Healthcare's 100 Most Powerful People in Healthcare of 2009 and Fellow of the American Hospital Association Patient Safety Leadership Training, Ilene Corina is a nationally recognized advocate for patient safety. She is the President and Founder of PULSE of New York, a grassroots patient safety advocacy group that was formed in 1997. She runs support groups for survivors of medical injuries and develops patient safety programs for medical professionals and consumers of healthcare. Ilene was the winner of the 2010 MITSS HOPE Award.
Eileen McHale
Eileen McHale, BSN, RN, is an experienced registered nurse with a background in clinical care, patient safety, public policy, and infectious disease. A member of the Massachusetts Department of Public Health staff since 2001, Eileen currently serves as the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act Healthcare Associated Infection Coordinator. She received her BSN from Boston College, Chestnut Hill, MA.
Paul Mordarski
Paul Mordarski is a partner in the law firm of Morrissey, Hawkins & Lynch in Boston. He has an extensive background in complex commercial litigation, including construction, insurance coverage, real estate and business matters. He has tried jury and non-jury cases in state and federal courts and has extensive experience with arbitration, mediation, and other alternative dispute resolutions. Attorney Mordarski has been a member of the MITSS Board of Directors since its inception in 2002.
Mike Smith
Mike Smith is the Director of Alliances for RL Solutions and is also a key project manager for the company's strategic alliances. Since joining RL Solutions in 2006, Mr. Smith has been responsible for brokering relationships with key business partners and industry experts to help offer new services to RL Solutions clients and to enhance the RL Solutions product offerings.
Linda Snell
Linda Snell, DNS, RN, WHNP-C, has many years of experience in women’s health care and nursing education. She is currently an Associate Professor of Nursing and Associate Dean, School of Health and Human Performance, at The College at Brockport, State University of New York. Always an advocate for patient safety, Linda’s passion for patient safety became personal in 2003 when the missed diagnosis of a dislocated knee led to significant complications and permanent orthopedic disabilities. While dealing with this long term personal crisis, Linda Kenney, through MITSS, personally reached out to help her after a coincidental webinar contact. Even though she is an injured patient, Dr. Snell also feels very passionate about the work that MITSS does with clinicians who have made an error.
